How can I explain He loves to play soccer. The main verb is loves and about to play?
    • admin says:
      Hi Walquiria,
There are two verbs: “loves” is the main verb, but “to play” is also a verb, an infinitive, which can also function as a verbal, a verb form that is acting as some other part of speech. In this case the verbal is acting as a noun, the direct object of the verb “love,” answering the question “What does he love?

Estou estudando agora a VOZ PASSIVA, mas estou encontrando alguma dificuldade no condicional que chamam de “IF CLAUSES”. Por exemplo, pelo que percebi todas as frases que utilizarmos com o uso do IF (condicional) com o verbo TO BE no passado, por ser uma condicional devemos usar para todos os gêneros sempre o WERE…..If I were you…..If he were here….If it were easy. É isso mesmo???
    Obrigado.

      Hi Norton,
      Isso mesmo!!
O Past tense do verbo “to be” é: I was, he was,…mas quando usamos if( isto é, estamos indicando uma condição), então, o verbo não fica no passado do modo indicativo e sim, no passado do modo subjuntivo. O verbo “be” no passado do modo subjuntivo é conjugado “were” para todas as pessoas.
Na linguagem informal, podemos até encontrar o “was”, mas não é muito comum.
      Examples:
If he were here, he would tell you.
If I were you, I would go.
If he were younger,he would have accepted the invitation.

A forma subjuntiva “were” também é usada depois de : As if, wish, suppose.

      Pedimos desculpas pela demora.
      Have a nice day!!

Eu li a respeito de at the end e in the end. Eu gostaria de saber qual a diferença entre at the end e by the end.

Most Sunrise validations will be done by the end of September.

The teacher set some homework at the end of the lesson.

    Muito obrigado.

      Hi Márcio,
at the end = no fim, no final
by the end = até o final

      Agradecemos sua visita!
      volte sempre!!
      Have a nice day!!

      • Márcio says:
I will be there by the end of september. It means that before september 30th I can be there, right?

I will be there at the end of september 30th. It means that exactly on september 30th I will be there.

Please, if I am not correct, tell me.

        Thanks.

    Hi Márcio,
    The first sentence is correct.
The second sentence could be:! I’ll be there on September 30th.( exactly on September 30Th) or ” I’ll be there at the end of September” ( for late September.)

    Have a nice day!!
